Brunswick County Free Dump Week 2017

FREE DUMP WEEK 2017

Brunswick County will be hosting it’s spring free dump week at the Brunswick County Landfill April 10 through April 15, 2017. Brunswick County residents and/or property owners may dispose of all materials except for regular household trash or new construction debris free of charge.
Please note that all convenient sites will maintain their regular tipping fees. Proof of Brunswick County residency or property ownership is required and will be checked at the landfill entrance.

Please take into consideration when loading your vehicle that electronics, fluorescent & CFL’s, scrap metal, appliances, propane tanks, oyster shells, tires, used cooking oil, latex paint, textiles (clothing), single-stream recycling, corrugated cardboard, batteries (household or automotive), used oil, oil filters, fuel, antifreeze and yard debris CANNOT be disposed of with regular household items. You may bring those items for disposal during free week but they must be placed in their designated areas.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION

Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 9am until 12pm Brunswick County Solid Waste & Recycling will be hosting a household hazardous waste collection at Shallotte Middle School. The event will be held in the bus parking lot and is free to all county residents, property owners, and farmers only.

When you arrive at the event please have proof of Brunswick County residency or property ownership available. While at the event we ask that all residents remain in their vehicle and please extinguish any and all smoking material while on school property. All items brought to the event must be clearly labeled for identification purposes. The staff onsite reserves the right to refuse any item brought to the event.

Items Accepted at HHW Event:
Oil-Based Paints
Stains
Insecticides
Herbicides
Household Cleaners
Pool Chemicals
Aerosol Cans

Please note that electronics, latex paints, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, and automotive fluids are not accepted at the HHW event. However, these items are accepted, free of charge, at the Brunswick County Landfill year round.

The following materials cannot be accepted: ammunition, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, infectious or biological waste, explosives, shock sensitive materials (crystallized ethers, picric acids, etc.), and non-household materials.

SHRED EVENT

In honor of Earth Day 2017, Brunswick County Solid Waste & Recycling is hosting a shred event. The event is free and open to all Brunswick County residents and property owners only.

On April 28, 2017, bring your documents to the Brunswick County Government Complex located at 3325 Old Ocean Highway in Bolivia between 10am and 1pm. We will have a shred truck parked in the parking lot between buildings B & G (look for the signs). The event is scheduled to end at 1 pm but may end sooner if the truck reaches capacity.

RECYCLE AT NO CHARGE
(Brunswick County residents and property owners can dispose of the following year around.)

Electronics, fluorescent bulbs & CFL’s, scrap metal, appliances, propane tanks, oyster shells, tires (limit 5 per resident), used cooking oil, latex paint & cans, textiles, corrugated cardboard, commingled recycling, non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries, used oil, oil filters, antifreeze & fuel and Cellphones.

CONVENIENCE SITES
Fluorescent bulbs & CFL’s, single-stream recycling, corrugated cardboard, scrap metal, appliances, oyster shells (all locations except Leland), tires (limit 5 per resident), used cooking oil and textiles.

COUNTY PARKS
Single-stream recycling and corrugated cardboard only.
